Time to Breathe.

Yes, I realize I have not posted in forever. That was one of my big worries when I started the blog, but I just honestly haven't had any time at all to post. I've been doing homework since I woke up today, and I don't feel so great right now. So, I'm taking a break from homework and all the other crazy things going on in my life right now to write about it all.
Since I posted last, soooo many things have happened. I don't think I'll be able to remember them all, but I'll attempt to recap a few! I've moved into my new apartment (which I love!), been on a retreat to Doe River Gorge, had a few Class '15 events, consumed 6 gallons of milk in a total of 3 weeks with my roommate, and made a lot of new friends! God is so good!!
I just love my new apartment. It feels so "homey". Eventually, I will have pictures. I promise. My mom is making the quilt that I'll be using on my bed and it isn't quite finished yet, so I'm waiting on the finished product before I put pictures up! I love living with Jessi this year. Between her and her sister, there is never a dull moment here. Her sister, Jenny, basically lives with us part time, but that's okay with me cause I love her to death. They both always have me laughing about something. Since we moved in, we have consumed a total of 6 gallons of milk. In 3 weeks. We've also been out of milk for two days now, and we're kinda going insane. Every night while we're doing homework we both have a glass of Nesquik, and it's amazing!
We also consume quite a bit of Kool-Aid here. I don't even know how many packs of that we've been through, but I know it's a lot!
The Well ministry teams always go on a retreat to Doe River Gorge at the beginning of the school year. Doe River is one of my absolute favorite places in the world. Our project this year was so neat! Long story short, we basically turned a bottle into a lamp while also being reminded of how we've been remade in Jesus and forgiven of our sins. So cool! I knew exactly where I wanted to put the lamp when I got home with it - right beside my bed. So, that's where I put it and every night before I go to bed, I turn my lamp on and my big light off while I do my devotion. It's even more of a reminder of how much God loves me while I'm having my quiet time!
Class '15 stuff is going wonderfully so far! I love it, and can't wait to see what the Lord is going to do in the lives of these freshmen this year. Last night we had cupcake wars with them. We were all beyond nasty by the time we left, but it was so much fun. I felt super gross, but I felt SO clean after about a 20 minute shower.
The Lord has placed some wonderful new people and friends in my life in just the 3 weeks that I've been back at school. It's so neat to see how He brings friendships together. Last week, James talked about friendships at The Well and that is when I really realized how blessed I am to have such amazing friends and family. I know that seems like such a cliche thing to say, but it really is true. Jessi is a wonderful accountability partner and I love that. Some friendships have faded, but that's okay too. It's not exactly something I like, but I'm trusting that it's all part of God's plan for me.
Basically, even though my life has been crazy out of control busy lately, I love my life and the people in it. :)

Give 'em Kell.

This weekend my whole family made our annual trip to see a football game in Georgia. I have 3 cousins that live there, all of which are boys. So, we've been to see plenty of football and baseball games down there and I'm sure there are plenty more to come. My uncle is also the assistant head coach for the football team. This year and last their team got to play in the Georgia Dome. It was a pretty nifty experience. I've known for quite a while now that they were playing there and that we were going, but it wasn't until we got off the exit for the dome that I realized that's where I'll be in January for Passion 2012! I got so excited, and couldn't stop talking about Passion after that!
Their team did a "black out" this year, so we all had black t shirts. The name of their school is Kell High School. The back of the shirts say "Give 'em Kell!" and I think that's just the coolest phrase ever. I was so excited to be getting a shirt that said that. I'm lame, I know. But I love free t shirts!! We also made fun "spirit signs" for him that we held up during the game when he went in. After everyone was rested up after the game, we went to get some ice cream from our favorite place down there - Bruster's. As we were all trying to decide what flavor we wanted, all we could get out of Keaton was that she wanted pink ice cream. She didn't care about the flavor, as long as it was pink. That has clearly become her favorite color because everything has to be pink now.
When we came home on Sunday, we went straight to my Grandmother's house to work on my quilt for my bedroom. Mommy is making me a penguin quilt for my apartment. Although it isn't going to be ready in time, I'm still super excited about it and can't wait to see the finished product. While she was working on that, I started working on making myself a ribbon board. I got the material put on, and now I just need to add the ribbon and other fun accessories! I'm pretty proud of it, even if it isn't finished yet.

Truth is, I should be packing right now. I packed for a really long time tonight though, so I'm pretty tired of it. I've got a whole lot left to do between now and Wednesday when I move into my apartment.. After that, my life just goes to pure chaos for like a month before things calm down. I absolutely cannot wait though. It's going to be such a great year!

Join the Club

Well, I've wanted to start a blog for a really long time. I've never had the guts to do it because I didn't think I'd update it enough. So, here's the test. I guess we'll see how often it gets updated. What better time to start a blog than right before a new semester? I definitely need something else to help me procrastinate some more. Not! I wanted a really fun, creative name for my blog. Yeah, that didn't work out so well.. My little cousins have always called me Doe Doe. We're not sure why or how they even got the name, but it has stuck and that is now what I'm known as in my family. They are basically my world, so you'll get to hear all kinds of fun stories about the crazy things they do and say all the time. :)

This morning I woke up super early - not on purpose of course. I didn't feel well, so I took some medicine and headed back to bed. I couldn't go back to sleep once I got there. That's a very unusual thing for me, especially at that hour of the morning. So, I decided to spend some time reading my Bible. The bright lamp shining in my room was the last thing I wanted to see, but I loved digging into the Word so early in the morning. I was going to take a picture of my Bible laying on my pillow with my penguin blanket, but when I tried to turn my camera on...it did absolutely nothing. Perhaps the fall from the balcony at the beach has finally gotten to it and has killed it permanently. Since I only have class on Mondays this semester, I'm going to try and start a routine every day. One that involves getting up and having my quiet time first thing. I can't think of a better way to start the day myself! I've also been on the hunt for a new Bible. There is one at Lifeway that I've had my eye on, but I really would prefer a different color than what they have. Also, a bit cheaper price would be quite nice. :) I'm going to see if I can maybe find one online today. I want an NIV/Message side by side study Bible. I highly doubt I'll find it for much cheaper, but hey I guess a Bible is a pretty good thing to spend a good chunk of money on, right?

School starts back soon, and I am actually pretty excited about it this year. I move into my apartment in 6 days. Woo hoo! I can't wait for that. Since Jessi and I both went on the New York trip for Spring Break, we have decided to decorate our living room in a New York theme. We have so many cute things to go on the walls, and I just can't wait to see what it will look like when everything is done and put together! I also can't wait to see what God has in store for this year. I have a feeling it's going to be a great one and I am so anxious to see and experience His plan!
